Many of the Studio Ghibli movies, including award-winning titles such as My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki’s Delivery Service, and Spirited Away, will start streaming on HBO Max in 2020.
HBO is a streaming service that started in 2014, and it is now becoming recognized and even compared to Netflix. With new features available, they will launch the service as HBO Max in May, 2020 in the States first.
This is going to be a new step for Studio Ghibli, as the movies were never available on digital platforms (like, streaming or downloading) prior. They were only available to purchase on Blu-ray or DVD.
I am ABSOLUTELY excited about this new service, not only because we will be able to watch famed Ghibli movies again (whether I am subscribing or not), but also because the whole world will get to watch Japanese symbolic movies (it always makes me happy to see people from abroad appreciate Japanese entertainment). It seems securing the rights to Studio Ghibli is also going smooth too. It is highly likely that it will spark a new streaming trend after Netflix!

| Koji Hoshino, chairman of Studio Ghibli, shows a positive attitude to the streaming service, saying it (HBO Max) is "ideal home for our films." |

Certainly this is an excellent business move for SG. I look forward to seeing how the animations are presented for streaming. They are favorites of mine. Thanks for the update.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the comment, I look forward to them too.
DeleteI've never heard about the news, so it was so amazing for me. Your blog is focused on the technical topic, but if there are difficult words, you describe it more simple with some examples. However, I can't get the meaning the difference between the above font and the bottom one. I guess the bottom is your idea, so how about changing the size?
ReplyDeleteThank you for leaving a comment, OK, I try to use easy words or at least explain the words that some may find difficult from now on.
DeleteHBO is unfamiliar to me and it sounds interesting. As you said, the Ghibli movies will be developing as the service is spreading around the world. By the way, I have a suggestion for your blog. The latter of your blog text looks small. So how would you like to change the size bigger? It will be clear if you do so.
ReplyDeleteThank you for pointing out that, yeah I should have made the characters bigger.
